Zeolite for Anti-Aging

Updated: Apr 21

Antioxidant supplements have become very popular over the years as we are all searching for hacks to look younger and feel better as the years continue to pile up. Most people have heard of antioxidants and the many promises of their ability to help with cell health and anti-aging. Did you know that zeolite acts as an antioxidant and may be even more promising than some of the leading antioxidant supplements on the market? To understand how antioxidants work we must first consider their purpose, which is to decrease oxidative stress by combating free radicals.

Free radicals are unstable molecules that are missing an electron. These highly reactive molecules are produced in everyone. They are produced from the everyday stressors of life and are produced in greater numbers when the body is exposed to toxic elements such as heavy metals or radiation. When the body is burdened with an increased load of free radicals, oxidative stress can occur which leads to cell damage, accelerated aging, and inflammation. Oxidative stress results when the body can't keep up with the amount of free radicals being produced.

Antioxidants help stabilize free radicals and prevent them from causing oxidative stress and damage on the body. When free radical production exceeds the body’s total antioxidant capacity, oxidative stress occurs.

Zeolite is a unique antioxidant that combats oxidative stress in a number of ways. It directly traps free radicals in its cage rendering them inactive, it reduces free radical formation, and it enhances the body’s total antioxidant capacity which means the body can handle more free radicals before oxidative stress occurs.

The best way to handle oxidative stress is to remove causes of oxidative stress along with empowering your body’s ability to handle oxidative stress. Zeolite does both. It removes many toxic elements that result in free radical formation and it also enhances the body’s natural antioxidant defenses like glutathione, SOD, and antioxidant vitamins such as A, E, and C.

Three Ways Zeolite Can Help With Oxidative Stress:

  1. Traps free radicals

  2. Reduces free radical formation

  3. Raises the body’s total antioxidant capacity

Traps free radicals:

This is scavenging support. Zeolite deactivates free radicals by binding them and trapping them in it's cage-like structure.

Reduces free radical formation:

By removing toxic elements that result in the formation of free radicals, zeolite helps keep free radical production to a minimum.

Raises the body’s total antioxidant capacity:

The body has built-in defenses against free radical formation. The body’s natural ability to combat free radicals is referred to as total antioxidant capacity. Zeolite enhances the body’s total antioxidant capacity which means the body can handle more free radicals before oxidative stress occurs.

Zeolite vs Other Antioxidants:

There are three main ways to protect against free radical damage

  1. Directly scavenge free radicals

  2. Reduce the production of free radicals

  3. Raise your body’s total antioxidant capacity

Zeolite is unique in that it is able to protect against free radical damage in all three ways opposed to most antioxidant supplements which primarily only scavenge free radicals.

Most antioxidant supplements are free radical scavengers. They donate electrons to unstable free radicals which helps stabilize them and prevent them from doing damage. In individuals experiencing high levels of oxidative stress it can be helpful to take antioxidant supplements such as vitamin C and Vitamin E to help scavenge or stabilize free radicals before they can damage cells. The more free radicals present, the higher the dose of the antioxidant supplement that will be needed to prevent cell damage.

While this can be greatly beneficial to the body, antioxidant supplements generally don’t remove the source of the free radical production, they simply help clean up extra free radicals. The antioxidant supplement will have to be taken continuously unless the body’s free radical production decreases or the body’s natural ability to stabilize free radicals is increased.

The ideal way to combat excess free radicals is to either reduce the production of free radicals in the body or raise the body’s natural ability to handle free radicals. A combination of both is ideal.

Natural Antioxidant Defense System

The body is designed with natural defenses against free radical production. A healthier individual will have a stronger natural ability to combat free radicals, and there will be less free radical production in the body. The sicker one becomes, the more free radicals are produced and the lower the body’s ability to neutralize the free radicals becomes. Accelerated cell damage and oxidative stress results when the body’s natural ability to combat free radicals can’t keep up with the production of free radicals. It is at this point that something needs to be done to prevent accelerated cell damage caused by free radicals. The main strategy that most people utilize at this stage is to supplement with antioxidant vitamins like C and E that directly scavenge free radicals. While this can be helpful at reducing damage caused by the problem, it isn’t especially helpful at removing the problem. This approach will generally require continuous use of the antioxidant supplements unless something is done to reduce free radical production.

Free radicals are produced when the body is faced with toxic stressors. Stressors such as radiation and heavy metal toxicity are a couple of things known to accelerate free radical production. If there are stored toxic elements in the body, it is likely that they are resulting in higher than normal levels of free radicals being produced every day. Removing these toxic elements from the body can lower free radical production thus lowering the need for antioxidant supplements.

The body’s total antioxidant capacity is also diminished as the body is under attack from toxic invaders. This lowers the body’s natural ability to combat free radicals and the amount of free radicals needed to cause accelerated cell damage is reduced.

Protect Yourself Against Free Radicals

The best way to protect yourself from free radical damage is to lower your body’s natural production of free radicals by removing the cause of the free radical production, and to raise your body’s total antioxidant capacity by removing stressors that are draining your body’s natural ability to combat free radicals. The third option is to utilize antioxidant supplements that will help scavenge free radicals. Zeolite is unique in that it can help protect against free radical damage in all three ways!

Dosing Tip:

Zeolite has incredible detox potential and can result in detox reactions in sensitive individuals. We have found that higher doses generally result in a more efficient and effective detox and are less likely to cause detox symptoms than low doses. If you experience a detox symptom such as a headache, irritability or joint stiffness you may want to consider taking a higher dose of ZeoCharge™ to see if that reduces or eliminates the symptom.

How Much Zeolite Should I Take?

The dose needed varies from person to person based on a number of factors. Basically, the more complex the health challenge the higher the dose that is needed. For ZeoCharge™ we have found that a starting dose of 10 grams per day (2 scoops), taken all at once, works great. If a headache or other detox symptoms occurs it is recommended to double the dose. The healthier you are, the less you need.

Maintenance dose for a healthy individual: 5 grams (one scoop) per day, taken all at once.

Dose for someone who is not as healthy as they would like to be: 10-30 grams per day, taken all at once.
